ethicalChoice Baskets are sourced from all over the world, and are beautifully made from the best quality wicker, rattan, and seagrass materials. We are careful to deal only with fair traders, and we are proud to display the “Ethically Sourced” logo to demonstrate our commitment to this policy.

Our Suppliers are fully committed to working closely with their supply partner to ensure that basic human and labour rights, the development of safe and decent working conditions and improved general standards of living meet, or exceed, international regulations.

They will ensure that all their basketware is made where:
Working conditions are safe and hygienic.
Wages and benefits paid for a standard working week exceed the national average for this craft.
Working hours are not excessive.
Employment is freely chosen.
Regular employment is provided
.

All the willow used to produce their basketware is coppiced from fast-growing regenerating crops that are cultivated solely for this purpose, sustaining traditional farming methods without the use of chemical application.

Two of our suppliers own a factory in China, and it is their aim to always trade constructively with the factory and to ensure that both parties share the benefit of trade. As these companies, have grown, they have been careful to retain their core values. Each year they   travel out to China on more than one occasion to work with our manufacturing arm in the design and production of the latest products. The workers involved in the production of all their basket products are highly skilled artisans who enjoy higher wages than realistic average local expectations. Men and women are paid the same rate for the same job and no Child labour is used. Their policy is to pay the factory on time, usually in advance, so that raw materials may be purchased without the factory getting into debt and therefore paying their workers on time. The company’s aim remains steadfast that all workers, of affiliated organisations, should be afforded the greatest standard of respect and working environments.
