Is it time to de-clutter my home?
That’s a massive question, for some of us. De-cluttering is a great idea, but can be overwhelming. If we try to do the whole house in one go, we will never get anywhere, and sometimes it’s not so much about getting rid of stuff, as being organised with our storage.
So today, we’re going to tackle one room – The Bathroom;
- The overflowing Laundry Basket – the basket is probably not big enough for the number of people in your home. But if you buy a bigger basket and don’t empty it often enough, the same could happen. So instead, let’s get organised (and train the other members of the household!) Buy either one split basket or two matching. Stand them side by side and sort as you go – lights in one, darks in the other. When the laundry reaches the top of the basket, you know you’ve got a full load for the washing machine.
- Waste Basket – There’s always rubbish in the bathroom; toilet roll innards, empty bottles/containers, soap wrapping paper. It’s usually emptying the bin that causes the problem, no one wants to do it. Buy a basket with a removable liner, then just take the lining out, empty the waste into the dustbin and wash the lining before putting it back into the bin.
- The Cupboard /shelves – We’ve all got that cupboard, so full of stuff we don’t actually know what is in there. Let’s break it down with the help of some storage baskets. We stock a large range of matching wicker baskets, perfect to fit your cupboard out. In my cupboard I have three baskets on the middle shelf. One for spare shampoo, toothpaste, soap etc. The middle basket houses the first aid kit, sudacrem, vapour rub and any other lotions and potions we might need. And in the third basket we keep bath and body products that have been received as gifts, it lovely to look through and find something nice to put in the bath.
Ooops, nearly forgot the toilet rolls and cleaning materials. Our Deep X-Small baskets are perfect for this job. They are just tall enough to hide the bottles of toilet cleaner and bathroom spray, but narrow enough not to take up too much space, and you don’t really need that many different cleaning products. You can fit 4 to 6 toilet rolls in the same size basket, or more if you choose the next basket size up. The beauty of this basket is you could also use one as a waste basket.
That’s the bathroom done.
It wasn’t that bad was it?
Off you go and have a cup of tea or glass of Prosecco, you deserve it.
Which room shall we tackle next? I think we’ve done enough today, so I’ll leave that for another day and another blog.
